Today my mom's drive- around session started as early as 7'o clock.."..Priya it's friday..wash your hair" her hurried instructions came my way...fine..this can be easily done..an obliging me went to the shower immediately.. then as I was fumbling for the hair dryer something occured to me tut..tut..million dollar questions strike when I have to get ready in the morning..

We have been reading stories of inventions in magazines....and have been told such stories by our teachers...all have one thing in common...mostly invented by Europeans..Americans...collectively the westerners.

Indian names have rarely occured in the list of specifically electronic inventions...
If neccesity had been the mother of these inventions also....then did the neccesity for these electronic gadgets not arise for Indians..?
Indians are...no..no.. were not materialistic..or were they ?
No...we were closed from the rest of the world...since we didnt have the comforts europeans had..we didnt have many neccesities..so didnt make many inventions...

Confusing huh!!? Ok wait...My argument is...If I get an Mp3 player because of dire neccesity,I need to get an audio head cleaner..to clean it..I need a nailpolish remover if I am used to painting my nails with varied colours evryday..(what else could be the need for a nailpolish remover,..)
So do inventions give rise to more neccesities and not the other way round..?

Anthariki Naa Ugaadhi shubakankshalu.....this greeting together with my salutation in the previous blog might tempt you to think I am a Telugu person....well I am not....but, yes, there's some chemistry working there....doesnt the idea of every Indian festival being seen as a festival for all Indians sound great..well it does to me..
It's for a selfish reason that I am eager to celebrate all regional festivals..I want to relate to all my brothers and sisters living in lands sharing borders with mine..
My selfish reason being that I want those faces glittering amidst their churn- on- the- mill
lives, on seeing my blog..If I can bring smiles to one far off face, then I have succeeded..

Being a Chennaiite and getting to meet Telugu people every now and then has thankfully transformed me from a Tamilian to a SouthIndian....Hope it widens my horizons further....

This reminds me of my younger days when there were among my neighbours , Muslims who celebrated Diwali with us in the same spirit with which we celebrated Id with them..It didnt matter whose god killed which demon , our spirits were high because there's our neighbour who could see all her married sons and daughters all in one place and she wanted us to share the joy with her ....that somebody else needs us to laugh with her, raised our spirits

If that was a melting pot of religious cultures this was one for regional cultures..

An anecdote on mother Teresa would fit in here...or I think so..
When she was on a pilgrimage to the Vatican once ..she was waiting for a "Darshan" of the pope..when the religious head emerged from inside...lo and behold, this sister of charity brought both of her hands in a folded position in front of herself...the ""namshkar" posture..what made this Yugoslavian do this..? No I am sorry for that...the Indian in her paid her respects to the religious head..with hope restored that this versatile nation is knit not by tolerance but by its people's acceptance of one another and that they identify themselves with this nation as a whole..I conclude...
